George Town City's forgotten 50th anniversary

Intro : 1st of Jan 2007 will be the 50th anniversary of George Town as a city -proclaimed by Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. When the city was first elevated as a city 50 years ago the royalties and commoners were involved in the celebration. But the government who took away the elected local councils from the residents seems to have forgotten the city status of George Town, among many other things essential for modern democratic living ! A few residents however cling on to the memory of the `lost city' of George Town !
